The Cliff site is the largest of the six sites under consideration and is currently occupied by the ASDA superstore and its surface car parking. Crucial to the planning of this building has been the need to keep the existing store trading.
The enlarged and improved store would be situated on the ground floor with its customer car parking, servicing, storage and residential parking over the ground, first and second floor levels. The residential apartments remain as a series of ‘finger’ blocks with landscaped courtyards. Instead of looking over a vast expanse of multi-storey car parking, new and improved views into landscaped courtyards and green rooftops will be provided. Lowered elevations from those originally proposed create improved views of the Marina from Kemp Town.
